Night by Elie Wiesel
Around the 1940s, Sighet Jews were forced into supervised ghettos, Elie's family was calm and compliant. For weeks the Jews had to survive on minimal food and water. In Birkenau Concentration Camp, the group looks in horror at flames rising above huge ovens and gags at the smell of burning flesh. Selection took place, of those fit to work and those who face the flames of death. Elie rebels against God, who remains silent. Elie, his father and other Jews are forced to march to Buna, a factory in the Auschwitz complex, where they work in an electronics factory. Elie gradually loses faith in God because of the brutalities faced.
January 1945, Russian liberation forces are moving closer towards the Nazi camp, so they start evacuating the camp the Jews march in bitter cold through Gleiwitz. In April 1945, American forces liberated the camp. Elie looks at himself in the mirror after ages and sees the reflection of a corpse.
