Capstone

April 2021

Foundation Year Culminating Project Hands-on experience focussing on application of skills acquired during the Foundation year, by following the Design Process on a Subject of Study (Spider Webs).

Final Outcome, ‘kalos eidos’

Title of the outcome is ‘kalos eidos’ meaning beautiful form. The outcome showcases the aesthetic beauty of a spider web with the use of lines and colours in the form of a triangular prism. The colours used symbolise an aspect of the Spider and the Spider Web, Blue; intelligence and depth, Yellow; positivity, Green; wisdom, Purple; power, Pink; calmness and White; transparency. The object in between depicts the notion of being trapped. The frames used contradict the idea of infinity as they create a boundary which limits the area. The linearity and asymmetry of the structure represents the appearance of the web.

Materials used are, aluminium wire, cotton thread, jute rope and wooden sticks.
